Reunion 2011
Bryn Mawr in the World!
More than 1,100 people came to campus on May 27–29 to celebrate Reunion 2011. Sixty-one members of the Class of 1961 gathered for their 50th Reunion. They were joined by alumnae from 21 other classes, the GOLD alumnae (graduates of the last decade), the McBride Scholars and the Graduate School of Social Work and Social Research.
The party began with pre-Reunion trips into Philadelphia, where alumnae/i, guests and family toured the city’s murals, including one created by Bryn Mawr to celebrate the 125th anniversary of the College. The mural is located at the Philadelphia District Health Center at 4400 Haverford Avenue. Alumnae also attended an exhibit of the arts and sciences of French natural history at the American Philosophical Society, led by Pat McPherson, Ph.D. ’69, and Professor Emeritus Catherine LaFarge.
Saturday was packed with activities ranging from the serious (three panels on globalization) to the sublime (a taco-truck fiesta), and ending with the “Illumination” outdoor party.
Sunday morning weather was gorgeous, just in time for the Parade of Classes, the Annual Meeting of the Alumnae Association, and finally strawberries and champagne on the lawn.
